The ambiance felt like home. A large open space with pastries lining the wall as you walk in. Self service with to-go bags and fresh items. The cashier was efficient with the line & the product was very unique. I got a bread with eggs, spinach and mozzarella. I walk by this place all the time and the vibes in the outside seating area are top notch. The rotating pizza menu is something to look forward to and seems like a hit. I also got a mocha with almond milk that was so good. A little on the sweet side but ultimately a comfort drink perfect for the cold front in the city.

I was in search of a sourdough loaf during my brief visit to the city and came an hour before they closed. This is a self-service bakery where you can select and bag your choice of pastries/breads. I got a city sourdough round for $5. I liked how their items were reasonably priced for the quality. Will be back to try the pizza! Also-- there is a credit card fee for purchases under $10.

Super nice and friendly staff, quick service, and best pizza and salsa verde sauce in town. A must visit. You can get a parbaked pizza half or full to finish at home so it's not overcooked. We are a regular here!

I came around 10am on a Monday morning and most of the bakery items were still available. It's a mostly self service bakery, you get to pick and bag your own items. I tried the chocolate croissant, walnut sourdough, this caramelized onion sourdough roll(?), chocolate chip cookie, and a sourdough round. Their sourdough bread is very good, not overly sour like some sourdoughs I've had. The cookie was pretty good, though very sweet. The chocolate croissant seemed a little bit stale when I got it unfortunately, though we did go to the bakery at a later time. Overall I really do like this bakery for their sourdough, and they even sell pizzas which I would like to try my next visit.

Arizmendi is a uniquely inexpensive place to get quality bread in the Mission. Rather than focusing on sweets like other bakeries, the stuff they have here is mostly plain and savory bread, perfect for taking home. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the pizza slices. They only make one kind of pizza each day, which they post to their website. But there's no need: each pizza I've had has featured a delicious, creative, and often salty concoction of vegetarian toppings. The pizza slices are fresh thanks to their fast pace of business, and you can get a slice very quickly. Not to mention they're less than $4!

Arizmendi was busy busy busy when I popped by on a Sunday afternoon. Even though there was a line out the door, service moved quickly. I was able to grab some of their self-serve pastries out of the pastry shelves in their front entryway, as well as order a slice of their pizza at the front counter. The prices here are some of the most affordable for pastries in the city. I can't say that they're my favorite--but overall good bang for your buck. The pizza was my favorite item out of all of the baked goods I tried. As mentioned, it was pretty hectic so my order got swapped with someone else's, but other than that, no pizzas were harmed in the making of this post. The pizza was hot and straight out of the pizza oven. It wasn't overly greasy and the bread had just the perfect amount of chewiness+crustiness. Although the hibiscus agua fresca was a little too sweet for me, the tartness of the drink did pair decently well with the pizza. In the future, I'd definitely pop on buy for a quick and cheap bite if I'm in the Valencia St area and would love to try some of their other pizza flavors.

I love stopping by for a slice of pizza -- perfect size for a snack -- or a pastry in the afternoon. It's not usually too busy. $.30 charge for credit under $10.
